CD REVIEW: Andy & Denise – “go”
By Stacey Board - 05/20/2003 - 03:58 PM EDT

Artist: Band: Andy & Denise
Album: “go”
CD Review: Andy and Denise are a cute couple. They are a writing and playing team and their enjoyment of what they do is evident in each song. Their voices blend together well on the energetic pop/folk songs that make up “go”.

This may sound strange, but what makes this duo stand out for me is Andy’s guitar playing. It is really exceptional. Call him Andy DiFranco. He’s got wonderfully versatile technique and a nice heart, intelligence and even sense of humor to his playing. He adds the little “something” that makes the songs not just good, but really good.

As a duo they are solid songwriters. Their style is contemporary folk, storytelling in song about experiences and emotions they share with us. Their particular male/female vocal balance is very pleasing to the ear. The production is nicely done also, letting the voices and guitar work shine but adding enough percussion and other instrumentation to flesh out the overall sound. It’s a great CD to pop in on a road trip and enjoy the trip they have put together for you.
