CD Review: From Spring Hill, Tennessee, comes the Jim Anthony Band. I like people from the Tennessee area so why wouldn't I like the Jim Anthony Band and their clean, fresh blend of Christian rock/country? This project is not just fresh, it's refreshing music for healthy adults, or adults in need of spiritual healing (which all of us are).

Most of the tracks on this 10 song CD reveal a band that is committed to delivering inspirational messages through their songs without being "preachy" or compromising their artistic and musical integrity. Their first and most commercial song on the CD, "All I Need," is disguised as a jam session that disarms you; making you more receptive to the message and the remainder of the songs on this project. It's a shrewd tactic and a brilliant offering to the radio and music industries.

Songs like "The Race," "Walking With You," and "The Fourth Of July," provide positive proof that the Jim Anthony Band is not soft and can jam with best of the beer drinking, babe chasing bands in any city....but that's not what they are about. They have an identity; more importantly they have a purpose, and a higher calling. Their talent and willingness to write about diverse subject material easily makes this one of the best projects I've heard in 2004 - which brings me to the most poignant and beautifully performed song on this project: "Dear God," which will strike an emotional chord in anyone who has ever lost a grand parent that they adored. This is music for the mind, heart, and spirit.

Advice: Don't change who you are or what you are doing. It's all a matter of meeting people with the same values who can share in your vision...which is a heavenly one. God Bless.
