Artist: Band: Guerrilla Funk Monster Album: “Bomb” CD Review:
Naming your CD "Bomb" takes guts. Is it a good bomb or a bad bomb? It's a good bomb.
OK I get the funk part. The Monster part is the emo/ska/rap etc. elements that are all influencing the sound. GFM ends up fusing so many things together and doing it so well that when you pour it out of the blender it is a unique concoction that goes down tasty.
These four gentlemen definitely have chops, energy and attitude. They also sound tight. They have spent their time well balancing their musicianship. It also is to their advantage that they all share writing credits. The organic process is evident in the way they all play together as a unit with so much energy.
All of the songs are fun, danceable and out of the ordinary. Fans of any alternative/ska/funk/rap genre would do themselves a favor to pick up “Bomb”.
