CD REVIEW: Chris Van Cott - “Little Puppy”
By Stacey Board - 11/18/2004 - 01:43 PM EST

Artist: Chris Van Cott
Album: “Little Puppy”
CD Review: Sometimes sounding more like a demo than a fully fleshed out CD sonically, "Little Puppy" is
definitely satisfying melodically.

"Honey" is the first track and one of my favorites. It has funny and clever lyrics along
wtih a very strong melody that is full of just enough surprises. Most of the other songs
are as interestingbut a few feel more like unfinished sketches and not fully
realized songs. He uses a variety of approaches in his melodies and tempos and that
works really well.

Van Cott is a talented player and singer and his potential is clear.
"Little Puppy" is a fine introduction to an artist that I look forward to seeing mature
even more as a songwriter.
