Artist: Stampead Album: “Couch the Comfort” CD Review:
Stampead has a lot of things going for them.
They have solid guitar playing recorded very well and melodies as good as anything on the radio. Think Matchbox 20 and that family of melodic soft-to-hard rock. The professionalism in their playing and in the overall sound of the recording is solid.
They also have a very passionate lead singer. But therein lies my criticism for this band.
The lead singer makes this CD impossible for me to like as much as I should. He’s doing a Rob Thomas impersonation and it isn’t often on pitch and it is extremely overdramatic. I hope he finds his own voice and can find a way to sing with it.
It is very likely though that you, dear reader, have different tastes and opinions from mine. I encourage you to seek out this CD and enjoy it for the songwriting and musicianship.
