By Gian F - 10/12/2005 - 02:23 PM EDT
Artist: Band: Blue Sinatra
CD Review:
Genre: Adult Pop Sounds Like: ? Technical Grade: 7 Production/Musicianship Grade: 8 Commercial Value: 7 Overall Talent Level: 8 Songwriting Skills: 7 Performance Skill: 8 Best Songs: Unicron, In Between Geminis, The Pulling Gun, Be Like Mermaids Weakness: Production/Technical quality CD Review: It's common knowledge in the music industry that "demos" are created for the "demonstration" of talent. They also demonstrate other things, such as what stage of development an act is in; how much potential they have; and what their areas of weakness and strength are. Such is the case with Blue Sinatra, a band from Philadelphia with an intriguing, eclectic, and organic sound.
It only takes one listen to this CD to detect that there is talent here - especially vocally - and that they are a peformance band with personality and charisma; which is their strength. "Be Like Mermaids" and "In Between Geminis" illustrate this point. The most commercial track, "Unicron," does the best job of harvesting their skills and talents by effectively blending vocals, rhymes and musicanship into one offering.
Once they smooth out the edges with the help of a more experienced producer who can help cultivate the sound and talents of the band, velvet gold, and maybe platinum awaits them.
Advice: Tighten it up! Production is a different animal than peforming live. Find and use an experienced producer on your next project to take it to the next level. You guys have the talent! I look forward to receiving the next (improved) project.
