Artist: 1L
Album: "Botbox"
CD Review:
Genre: Electronica Sounds Like: Kraftwerk/Depeche Mode/Soul Sonic Force/Devo Technical Grade: 9 Production/Musicianship Grade: 9 Commercial Value: 9 Overall Talent Level: 9 Songwriting Skills: 9 Performance Skill: 9 Best Songs: Electric Superstar, Boot, Karate (All Over Your Body), Lektrail, X~RU Weakness: ? CD Review: If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, this is the kind of CD that will drive your parents crazy and make your grandparents nostalgic for times when people listened to "real" music...but it will make you the envy of your friends who will be clamoring to get a copy of the hyperbeats and percolating melodies found on this project.
1L, who has already had songs featured on "VH1 Classic's Resurrection Weekend," ("Electric Superstar") is signed to Resfreq Recordings who has a publishing deal with Universal Music Group and actively promotes and administers the rerpertoire of 1L and others. Of course they can get licensing with songs like "Boot," "Lektrail," and the pop-locking, boogalo, roboting, break-dancing gem, "X~RU," because they employ cutting edge beats that DJs love and advertising agencies can use to sell cars, clothes, and other goods, but it's the catchiness (and lyrical craziness) of songs like "Karate (All Over Your Body)" and the loosely Prince inspired "Physical" that cover the full spectrum of their talents and speak to their ability to compose a radio-friendly song - even though it's electronica.
Put this is in your CD player and prepare to have some fun.
Advice: You guys are on the right track. www.res-freq.com
