CD Review: Fine Lines, fresh from a headlining gig at this year's (2006) South By Southwest Festival, submitted an EP that features some of the tightest songwriting and cleanest production I have heard in the Pop/Rock genre this year. The polished vocals are interwoven between driving melodies that linger.
While this EP only makes a partial offering of five songs (including one "bonus" track) it delivers complete satisfaction. The most commercial track, and radio-friendly song is "Experimenting You," which will appeal to anyone who has ever experienced the anguish of love. It's a song that benefits from an intro that's alluring and engaging. This band knows how to write commercial music, but they have an advantage over their competitors which is the one little thing that prove to be a big difference: a lead vocalist with a magnetic voice that draws you in and makes it difficult to pull yourself away. Her phrasing and delivery is subtle, but strong, and works beautifully in the context of her supporting musicians.
Tight songwritiing, quality musicianship, and a distinguished vocalist...these are fine lines that you cross to get to the next level...
Advice: Keep moving forward! You guys are on the right track. www.finelinesmusic.com
