Songwriting Chats
For logs of previous chats, please go to the Chat Logs page.

This listing is meant to help you find a songwriting chat no matter what time you're looking or where you might be located. These times are all in EST. If you know of a chat that happens regularly and can't find it listed here, please do let me know about it! I'll be happy to list it too.

If you're interested in hosting a chat of your own, feel free to contact me about it. The chat rooms are open all the time and so far, I'm only using it on Monday nights (and a lot of the time, not even then as there hasn't been a regular chat there in quite some time - unless people are using it without telling me - which would be great! :) ). Are you in Australia? The UK? Feel free to arrange a time to borrow one of the chat rooms for a time when YOU and those in your area will be able to make it. Let's talk.

Lastly, please check these locations often as their schedules and hosts are likely to change without prior notice. I make no guarantees about how good these chats are - just that they exist. Thanks for your understanding.

Web sites with changing chat schedules:

  • At WebAdo, there's a chat room for songwriters. There doesn't seem to be any particular schedule and I don't know when people usually hang about, but it's at least there.
  • The Singer/Songwriter Directory has a chat that doesn't seem to have any particular times for when others gather ... but it's there. I don't know how many others attend, but if you want to organize a group, it's another place to try.
  • The Bluegrass Guide seems to have guest speakers every now and again. They're particularly interested in people who have an interest in Bluegrass, but it looks like all songwriters are welcome. Have a look and you'll see more information about their upcoming chats!

  • The Christian Songwriter's Network has a page where they talk about their chats and have a message board forum. If you're interested in this aspect of songwriting, feel free to have a look. It looks like they have a regular chat going on Tuesday nights, but I haven't been able to locate the exact times. Maybe if you join and post a message there though, you'll find other like-minded individuals who want to talk?

  • Tunesmith.net has a chat location. I don't see a schedule of any kind, but it's there.

Since chats are quickly becoming a dying breed - and since you can also chat live with folks off of the Muse's Muse Message Boards, I'll forego trying to put together a list of times for various chats. Most of them don't have regular meeting times in any case.

If you have one that isn't listed here and it has a regular meeting time, feel free to let me know about it.

Meanwhile, good luck with your writing!
