Artist: The David Clare Band Album: "The David Clare Band" CD Review:
From the first notes of the first song I was impressed with the sound of this record. I’m a sucker for melodic bass and a great organ sound. David’s voice is also smooth and accessible, nicely balanced with sparing backup vocal touches. He reminds me a bit of a young Elvis Costello in his vocals, but the songwriting has none of that cynical sharp edge and more smooth pop like a Del Amitri or the Gin Blossoms. The arrangements are gorgeous; not too much, not too slick, just right.
Its well done melodic pop. With a message. Some people might have a bias to tune out any music written with religious/Christian perspective. If that describes you, try to leave that at the door and enjoy this well written, played and produced record. Musicians are all going to enjoy “Seeing America” , and everyone can relate to the rocking bluesy “I’m Through With You”. Hopefully not too many can relate to “The Stalker Song” but its good job of tongue-in-cheek songwriting.
