CD REVIEW: Paul Waters – “Goon Show”
By Stacey Board - 02/20/2004 - 10:16 PM EST

Artist: Paul Waters
Album: “Goon Show”
CD Review: “Goon Show” is quite Beatlesque with a heavy dose of humor and wit. Waters looks like Jon Brion and sounds like Nick Lowe. His vocal steering is not exactly on track at all times but with the quirky material, it works.

The songs are jangly, mostly in tune, pop tinged bite size candies. It sounds often throughout the CD that a group of friends is hanging out in the living room with some beers and having a great time making music. The guitar playing and pop twists and turns are quite enjoyable.

If you like bootleg Beatles tapes you will really love this CD.
