CD REVIEW: Adrienne Jones - Still Life
By Ben Ohmart - 05/21/2007 - 10:34 AM EDT

Artist: Adrienne Jones
Genre: Folk
CD Review:
What a pretty tape this was that I got in the mail. I'm glad I'm listed on Muse's Muse as a reviewer, because it means I come across music in its purest form, undiluted by success or contractual obligations. Sometimes I get lovely, simple songs that put a positive spin on life.

'Still Life' creates an image I hadn't actually Thought of before. You can't paint still life, because no life is still. It keeps living, breathing, it flutters off into the fields. Lovely.

'It Doesn't Matter' is rather like 'You've Got A Friend', because she will always be here for ya, mate.

Guitar, vocals like Joni Mitchell's pretty sister. In a way it's folk, but that's a little short-sighted to say. These are new day, feeling good songs that you can cheer to in the dayshine; or you can boo hoo at night, wishing the sun were light and strong right now. I'm looking forward to the cd release.
