CD REVIEW: Lucid Nation - DNA
By Ben Ohmart - 05/21/2007 - 10:34 AM EDT

Artist: Band: Lucid Nation
Website: http://www.lucidnation.com/
Genre: Rock
CD Review:
I can see the headline now: Angry young band stays lucid about life. Yep, as Bongwater-type song 'Pimpin' exclaims, people will do anything for money. Tamra Spivey is spouting in that professional pimp way of hers how much it'd take to make this great movie, how much it would cost to get this great band that could do the soundtrack. It's my favorite on the cd, tells the real mindset of LA and the dreamers and fighters who're always moving there. (So don't move there, you idiot!) The band is raw nerve, uncovered and unnerved by what they've found, combined with grinding guitars and punk drums, they are a real product of the True west coast, and they ain't afraid to share the info. Just listen to the great rock haze of 'L.A. River' for a 2nd opinion. Ronnie Pontiac whines the vocals on this one, plus guitar. Oh yeah, and there's enough guitar for you kids. Danette Lee mounts his/her own monster too. Kinda puts some of The Doors to shame. I love this stuff. They are spooky and half baked in the sun, half held under water by the powers that be pissed.
