One Step Closer rocks. Their first release, Out of Your Element, is a testament.
Nick Lombardi on bass and Tyler Kilby on drums lay down a solid foundation for
Steve Lombardi’s metallic guitar leads. Scott French’s vocal is a perfect
complement. The band is listed as writer on all songs and the cohesion is
evident in the tightness of the performance.
The first cut, My Miss
Perception, features strong production and solid songwriting. French’s
vocal is dead on and the band rocks mercilessly. Pancake Thunder, the next cut kicks it up a little higher. Steve
Lombardi’s guitar sets the tone for Getting
Even, a warning about creating bad karma. Red Eye features French on piano in a poignant rock ballad. But it’s
when the band kicks in that the song takes off. Circling The Drain is a bare bones rocker.
The production values throughout Out of Your Element are excellent and no producer is listed on the
CD. I’m assuming that the since the band is listed as writer then they also
co-produced. If you like alternative metal rock, One Step Closer’s Out of Your Element is a good pick.
