CD Review:
Bobby Susser is at it again. With his pristine production and simple, appealing melodies, Bobby creates music that anyone could love. You can hear the influence of 60s favorites like Neil Diamond and The Beach Boys, but hey, might as well be influenced by the best.
Bobby has had a long and varied career in music. His contributions to the kids music genre are undeniable. He may be the first artist I've reviewed who has a Wikipedia entry. He's done anti-drug records, explore your body records, all kinds of kid-friendly records for everyone from toddlers to teens. And while Paula Atherton is the able female vocalist, the only credit for male vocals is The Bobby Susser Singers. While he has a youthful glow about him, is that really Bobby himself singing the Journey-like vocals on Smiling Face and 'Birthday'? Amazing. The album is enlivened by the live playing of nearly a full orchestra, all of them named on the back cover. Hooray for real instruments! In any event, the songs are sound, and Susser has made another infectious, relentlessly upbeat album that puts parents in mind of classic hits and is loads of fun for kids. Cos as Bobby himself says, You Ought To Have Fun.
