CD Review:

Back with his third project, and first independent endeavor, is Atlanta crooner, Bobby Valentino. This rebirth is appropriately titled because after just one listen, you can detect and appreciate his musical growth.

His most commercial, and current radio hit, the sophomoric, but catchy, "Beep Beep" (featuring Yung Joc) and its accompanying video, is exactly what the doctor ordered to revive his languishing career as a former Disturbing Tha Peace music artist. He’s back in the saddle and ready to ride his new project to a different destination.

Songs like "Make You The Only One," which is the lone track that’s reminiscent of his signature characterized by his former hits "Slow Down," and "Tell Me," both Tim & Bob productions. It’s for his die-hard fans and it features Bobby at his vocal best, with an arrangement that is relaxed, sincere, and powerful.
His songwriting also seems to have evolved as he incorporates stronger, and various alternative melodies as evidenced on "Be My Love," (which you can’t listen to without singing fa-la-la-la-la).

Ironically, Bobby’s evolution may not be televised...at least on the radio. Two of the tracks which best capture his expanding dimensions are the alternative tinged, acoustic flavored, "On The Edge," with its big drums and sing-along chorus. A far cry, and long way from "Slow Down." The other is "You Are Not Alone," which sounds like the type of cool, melodic song that Babyface would write if he were still making contemporary, hit songs. These are the real gems on this project and they place Bobby V. on a different playing field and level.

Other standout tracks include the lustful, Jodeci inspired, "3 Is The New 2," the rock guitar infused "Butterfly Tattoo," and the radio-friendly ballad, "My Girl."

Pick up this CD and rebirth yourself as a fan. You will be glad you did.
