My
name is Brian Rutherford, and I am a freelance journalist with 6
years of review-writing experience. I've written for both national
and locally distributed publications. My personal music taste is
something of a mosaic. I can be found listening to Metal, Ska, Hip
Hop, Singer/Songwriter, Neo, Electro, Reggae, Classic Rock, Blues,
Jazz, and a slew of other genre I simply can't fit in this space.
I am a firm believer in the elimination of the record label. If
you are considering sending me your CD, please also consider I have
worked in every branch of the record industry in multiple regions
of the United States over the last decade or so. From CD store ownership,
all the way down to street team marketing, and every radio gig in
between. I have the experience. But do I have your CD? Ever
seen an artist rise from the seeds of local flyers to the dirt of
the local coliseum? If I had a dime for every time I did a review
on an independent artist who later would go on to sell millions
of records... Chevelle, and Limp Bizkit are just a few examples
of my industry clairvoyance. Bottom
line is, I love to see something from the ground level, and watch
as it builds up. If you feel your CD will get me excited about independent
music, by all means, let the stamp licking begin. But in either
case, and in any result of this mighty fine interaction, please
make sure you keep digging, and never rely on the dreams of signing
to a label. Believe it or not, you DONT NEED a label to get your
music out there. Just your passion, and your CD. Keep music new........
