CD Review: I received this song “We Goin Out” by Dae Juan for a review, and I learned that all it takes is just one song to get you hooked on an artist. I gave this one a listen, and I can say this is undeniably infectious, guaranteed to get you moving, mood-boosting, club-going… dance, dance, dance!!

Dae Juan (pronounced Day One) is based out of Sacramento, CA, and plays 10 (count ‘em!) instruments . He obviously understands the electronic dance movement, because this song, from his upcoming album “Change The World”, is a true dance club track, reminiscent of any dance track that gets you moving whether you like it or not. (I found myself feeling the groove as if I were listening to Rihanna’s “Please Don’t Stop The Music”.) Right from the opening violins – and what a melody!! I just wish I could hear it more in the song!! – to the way the beat moves in and just challenges you to sit or stand still, it’s obvious Dae Juan has a true grasp of what EDM is all about. His vocals are very soulful, which to me, is important in this type of music, otherwise the vocals get “forgotten” in the place of the music and propulsive beats. Not the case here.

But don’t look for serious lyrics here as far as songwriting goes. There are some serious dance beats, absolutely, and there is a story to this song. There are genres that rely more on the lyrics to carry a song, but this, in my most humble opinion, is not one of those genres. This is one that requires a knowledge of beats and the dance club scene, and how to get the listener moving. And Dae Juan definitely achieves this. The simple lyrics have you singing along in no time, which is an excellent indicator of a well-written song, but don’t look for a profound meaning. And that’s all right.

If you like electronic dance music, check out Dae Juan. DJ's are spinning his records right up there next to Calvin Harris and David Guetta... and you’ll be moving and hooked in no time! I was -- from Day One!
