CD REVIEW: Friction Farm - Galileo's Horse
By Ben Ohmart - 05/21/2007 - 10:34 AM EDT

Artist: Band: Friction Farm
Genre: Alternative Rock
CD Review:
Just 3 people, but you'd expect at least a 4th with what they manage to drum up. 'Book of Your Regrets' is a good alt-rock song that keeps one foot planted on the pop side. 'your breath is barely taken yet / but I will never quite forget / you try to change your words / but it makes no difference'. Shout it out!

Yet the cd starts off with something vaguely folky with a good beat - the song is 'February: Austin, TX'. The vocals sure remind me of Alanis Morehoweveryouspellit. The piano gives this one a fresh flavor over the words of 'all I wanted was an answer / how I got here why I came / all you offered me were questions / all I remember is my name.' Hell, even the lyrics here are a bit Alanis, huh?

9 songs with pep and pepper. A good trio with fine vocals to back it up.
