CD Review:
One of my favorite chanteuses, singer/songwriter/musician Jen Woodhouse, turns in the follow-up project to her Muse’s Muse Award winning debut CD.
The opening track of this 6 song EP, "Rearview," is a more developed and fully produced musical effort (thanks to David Browning) which captures the essence of her songwriting and lyrical prowess. This animated production about unrequited love is vintage Jen Woodhouse. The track manages to demonstrate her improved commercial appeal while showcasing her artistic and vocal growth.
Jen’s uncanny use of imagery in painting vivid stories is still very much intact. The follow-up track, "Gravity," is a pensive Tori Amos-esque ballad that bares Jens’ signature, ethereal vocals. It features elaborate, but accessible arrangements which create emotional impact and unyielding listening pleasure.
Jens’ narrative skills are on long display during this short project, along with her ability to convey relentless emotion with her raw, organic vocal style - which is second only to her superlative songwriting talent.
This is a Press Kit that deserves the attention of a worldwide audience.
