CD Review:

I first met Jessi Evans as a novice music artist with big talent and big dreams at the Seth Riggs summer vocal camp in the summer of 2006. One year later she has completed a solid 3-song AAA/Alternative R&B demo that showcases her as a promising vocalist/singer/songwriter with blossoming talent and the potential for greatness.

With production by Cori Jacobs (Beyonce/Pussy Cat Dolls) and thought-provoking lyrical content that speaks to Jessi’s advanced maturity and depth, her most commercial and infectious track, the Bjork-esque “Release," illustrates the depth of her talents and a kaleidoscope of warm nuances that are an indelible part of her brand as she metaphorically admonishes others, “Don’t go chasing birds that want to fly…”

Jessi’s sultry voice works well on the laid back, R&B tinged “Waterfall,” with its in-the-pocket groove which finds Jessica in her vocal comfort zone, and places square focus on the message and attitude of the song, but it’s on her piano and voice ballad, “Silent Candle,” that her SLS vocal training shows up to round out and solidify her debut set.

An auspicious beginning for an artist who is well-rounded and well-grounded.
