Pink Floyd has always been cool to listen to. As a kid, I could stare for hours at the album art and become lost in the jammings of A Saucerful of Secrets or Atom Heart Mother. Polka on the other hand is still an untapped resource for me. I listen to a little Mexican Polka care of Flaco Jimenez, but that’s as far as I go. So when I received this CD, I was a little leery, but when you combine the two genres, it works in a strange way.
Armed with an accordian and the usual instruments, The Polka Floyd Show perform covers of Pink Floyd classics with a Polka twist. It’s nice to hear some of the older stuff too. People forget about such classics as See Emily Play and One of These Days, but they are found here.
The renditions are right on too. If you a true Floyd fanatic or you just listen to Dark Side of The Moon, The Polka Floyd Show does not miss a bass lick, sound effect, or drum fill that was on any of the original recordings. At times, I swore I was listening to some of my old vinyl until the accordian splashed some water in my face and woke me up.
The CD also contains covers of Breathe/Time (medley), Have A Cigar, Pigs On The Wing, Hey You, and Outside The Wall.
