CD REVIEW: Pope Jane - Relief
By Ben Ohmart - 05/21/2007 - 10:34 AM EDT

Artist: Band: Pope Jane
Genre: Pop/Rock
CD Review:
I feel like stupid / everytime I sit at home just staring at the telephone / disgusted and alone / because I love you / I feel like stupid'. You'll never guess the name of the song. Nope. It's 'Stupid'. The song isn't stupid, but it's 'Stupid'. It's a bitch with humor and frantic, what should I do with my hands energy.

They aren't a heavy handed group, which wins points in my book. 'Change Is Random' is a good idea for a song. 'did I kiss him goodbye this morning? / I don't know / I don't remember'. The lyrics are a bit small to read, but I know why. Costs less for an indie person to get a 2 pg booklet than a nice fold out poster for the cd booklet, so I know how it is. I'm still glad they put the words in though, for us word nuts.

Danielle Egnew is the lead voice. She has a bit of the soul music about her, and can grind guitars nicely. 3 girls, 1 mission. That mission is probably to have fun and get booties shaking on the floor. They are Damn close, if not THERE NOW.
