Trysette is a classically trained Pianist, Singer, Songwriter who hails from South Wales Australia. Over the years she has been compared to the likes of Sara McLaughlin, Emmylou Harris, Taylor Swift and Jewel. Her latest effort entitled Here on In (Global Journey Music) was released in 2012. This is her third release to date.
The CD kicks things off with the “Cause You’re Mine” an uplifting little ditty that serves up inviting instrumentation, well-crafted melody and warm vocal presence from Trysette. This first track is comparable to a warm blanket or inviting welcoming mat. Track 2 “The Right Thing” shifts gears a bit with it’s smooth as silk Caribbean style rhythm section painted against impressive musical build, heartfelt vocal delivery and grand slam chorus. Track 3: “Fire in Her Belly” showcases even more songwriting brilliance from Trysette. This piece delivers flawless vocal presence and well placed guitar accents. As the CD slowly unfolds I can hear many musical textures reminiscent of classic vocal acts as Suzanne Vega, Amy Grant, Sara McLaughlin and even Edie Brickell to Tori Amos. The music itself combines classic elements of earthy Folk Rock with an aftertaste of R&B, Soul and even Jazz. The musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. You will also notice lush layers musical instrumentation layered everywhere which besides the 4 piece standard includes impressive guitar chops, amazing rhythm section, well placed percussive accents, impressive piano and keyboard chops and well placed vocal harmonies layered everywhere. The CD has some truly impressive moments on it showcasing impressive songwriting, world class instrumentation via Trysette’s honey coated vocal delivery. Zeroing in now on Trysette – her voice goes down smooth as she makes the vital (singer to listener) emotional connection. Her voice reminds me a lot of Amy Grant and Edie Brickell. What’s even more impressive is her piano playing abilities. Trysette can hold your attention well during some of the CD’s solitary moments. This is not as easy as it sounds and when done properly will stop you I your tracks. Trysette executes the pin drop moments well clearly proving she is an artist worthy of your attention and praise. From upbeat “Moonlight Kisses” to infectious “But Hey” to slamming “Take a Seat” and “When I Hear you Sing” to solitary “Happy” this CD has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with Track 10 “Just a Fantasy” the perfect finale statement for a CD of this caliber.
It’s had to find any real noticeable weaknesses with this CD. But if could say anything to Trysette right now it would be bring out more of that raw vocal passion especially during some of the finale moments of the music. It’s fair to say Trysette needs to let it hang out just a tad more vocally on some parts. When you take those kinds of risks it can be like capturing lighting in a bottle. When executed properly it will create musical moments that are to die for. Always remember when you take risks sometimes you can win big with them.
From start to “Here on In” is an amazing collection of music by Trysette. Note for note, song for song there isn’t really a weak piece on this entire catalogue. All pieces are short and sweet musical experiences, each one possessing its own signature groove and musical personality to call its own. The writing and playing abilities of this band are rock solid, the catalogue is highly diversified. Last but not least the vocal presence and amazing songwriting abilities of Trysette just makes the whole thing work. She is infectious artists that knows how to sing you a song, and occupy a special place in your heart with her amazing artistry.
