CD Review:
Most of the rap music I get is just horrible. If it’s not the talent, it’s the song. If it’s not the song, it’s the production. If it’s not the production, then it’s the mixing. The rap projects I that get are rarely a complete offering. That wasn’t the case when I received this 5-song EP by Voice which delivers on every level while managing to be fresh, commercially viable, and entertaining.
The most commercial track, "Out The Box," is a hot dance track that energizes you with its Pit Bull/Missy Elliott-styled perscussions, synthesized bass lines, and shouting samples. It has duel potential as a radio-hit and club smash. Most impressively, Voice understands the lost art of continuity and followed their smoking opening track with, "Bad," a complementing track so sexy you can strip or belly dance to it.
Unlike most rap tracks that are long on tracks and short on good songs, Voice gives you their best and makes you wish for more. That was the case after I listened to the thought-provoking and cleverly written, "Look At Me (Center Of Attention)," the morality conscious and Bone Thugs inspired "Panty Hoez," and the suave closing number which features smooth Sisqo-esque vocals, "I Got A Question (Marry Me)."
Voice is a true contender in rap game full of pretenders.
