Two of New Zealand's songwriters who recorded their own music have released their material as Digital Albums on the Tree Records Label, through CD Baby, iTunes, Napster, Tradebit and Amie Street digital delivery sites.
It is unusual for New Zealand's singers/songwriters to get recorded let alone, issued to a worldwide marketplace, as New Zealand's Record Companies like to 'play it safe' with cover-versions of proven hits to limit their risks. Tree Records was the exception when it started recording Singer/Songwriters' material in 1969. While cover version shave been recorded, 60% of Tree's material is ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS by the Artists who recoded it for Tree.
To introduce you all to Tree Records and the new Digital Delivery Site www.amiestreet.com which specialises in Independent Artists and Labels' material, Tree Records is offering a FREE $5 USD Gift Card to use at www.amiestreet.com to, ideally, 'buy' their music so you can appreciate the talents of the songwriters involved.
Laurence Cooper first recorded for Tree Records in 1969 as the slide guitarist on Rick Bryant's own composition "Wild About You" and the tight guitar work on Gutbucket's "Spanish Blues". After Gutbucket he joined Tapestry and then in the mid 90's started writing songs. "Phosphorescence" is all his own work and he also plays guitar and sings.
Bob Keeton wanted to be a Rock or Jazz artists but Wellington's Victoria University only had Classical Music Courses available so he took it and swapped his guitar for a piano. He has been gigging around Wellington for 18 years and quietly writing his own material which he recorded and issued 200 CD-R copies of for selling at his gigs. Tree Records heard the Album and offered to launch it Globally for him. The rest is history and "Stronger", "Get To The Top", "Isolation Electric Candyland" and more have been keenly snapped up by digital music buyers.
You can meet these Singer/Songwriters at Tree Records web site and hear 2 min sound samples of all their songs at CD Baby - www.cdbaby.com/all/treerecords and the FREE $5 Gift Card can be collected from the DIGITAL page within the Tree Records web site - http://www.beatzonemedia.com/Tree_Records.html
