WHISPER OF THE RAIN (based on a true story)

This is the title of the new album by Alessio Miraglia. The talented composer is about to publish an intense concept album that will come out in June 2015.
Recorded in Los Angeles, the album was produced and mixed by Tim Starnes
(Lord of the Rings, Avatar, King Kong etc).

"“March 10, 2014 Boston. Trying to protect myself from the rain, I took shelter in a covered gallery near the train station.
A voice nearby caught my attention: an old, seemingly homeless man ensconced in a corner, singing the National Anthem.
Curiosity getting the better of me, I approached and engaged him in conversation.
After just a few minutes, he openly began the recount his life’s story, like a wise grandfather to his young grandson. Fascinated by this glimpse into an existence so different than my own, I became entranced by the pictures created through his words.
I walked step by step along the path that Destiny, with its distinctive irony and profound cruelty had seen fit to drive this magnificent man along, to become the lonely, wise human being that I saw before me, experiencing along with him every moment, every pain, every tragedy.
I, in my turn, felt compelled to make this album because, long after meeting him, his story continued to echo within me.
I have tried to transform his moments into music, and hope his experience resonates with every note.
I have attempted to present his journey as truthfully as possible, and to endow this work with his presence.
My wish for you is that you will feel as profoundly moved by his story as I was myself.”
A.M.

This is what Alessio Miraglia said about this work:
"The album is divided into five parts and each part is chronologically the path taken by the story.
The album is a real "Soundtrack" of the movie that the author wrote and directed in his head.
It ’s a delicate reminder of a young black boy, who became, with the passing of the years, an old homeless man, abandoned by society.
It ’s a journey through the memories, life, dramas and dreams of a man destined from the outset to remain on the sidelines of the 'American Dream'."

The covers of this album are two amazing works by the talented Italian photographer
Irene Fittipaldi.

I asked Alessio why the choice of these two pictures and he said:

"They make me crazy. It is not clear if the subject is black or white, it is symbolic, he is only a man.
Race, color, faith, everything else disappears.
There are only veins that are pulsing life. Those photos erase racism. "

Lyrics and music are by Alessio Miraglia.
All the instruments are arranged and played by Alessio Miraglia except the drums, performed and recorded by Maestro Mario Contarino.
The voices of John Clinebell and Eva Mahgrefteh, and the participation of Grandpa Murashige on ukulele and Patrick Shade on violin complete this complex, multifaceted album".
