One of, if not the most elusive producer on the Jersey Club’s scene, Stink Floyd, is getting ready to unveil ‘Good Enough’ the first track to be lifted from his forthcoming EP, ‘Fish You Were Here’. DJ Technics, Dukeyman, DJ Class, DJ Sega, K-Swift and Jersey Club figureheads such as DJ Tameil, Mike V & Tim Dolla of Jersey’s world renowned ‘Brick Bandits’ collective and DJ Sliink’s famous collective ‘Cartel Music’, have all had a hand in moulding the sound that he boasts today.

Stink Floyd first hit the scene in 2014 when friend and collaborator, ‘L’Etranger’, released Stink Floyd’s debut EP ‘Stank Side’ as a free download on his label, Thomorrow. Since then, in little over a year, his work has gained support from TR!CK$, who remixed the record ‘Briethe’, R3LL who premiered the track on BBC Radio 1 and Spazzkid who commissioned Stink for an official remix released on Daedelus’ label ‘Magical Properties’.

Heavily and overtly influenced by Baltimore, Philly and Jersey Club producers before him, Stink Floyd relates to the culture and community of Jersey Club like no other movement. Jersey Club has been a cultural phenomenon in its own state for over 15 years, with the past few years seeing its popularity expanding to global climbs. But hyper-local styles such as Jersey Club, and others such as Chicago Footwork, have cultures that are spread way beyond the music. It’s for this reason, that Stink Floyd doesn’t take a cent for the music he makes. He doesn’t believe that it’s his to take.

“I’m not intentionally appropriating Club music culture for my own gain whether it be in the form of the dollar bill, facebook likes or bookings” he explains. “I do it because I love the sound, the culture and the community and I can personally relate to the culture like no other movement”. So instead, he puts his music out for free and with his second EP "Fish You Were Here” he is encouraging people to donate to the charity “The Community Food Bank of New Jersey’”.

“This is a cause which is really close to my heart. I’m going to remain anonymous not because it’s a gimmick or that I’m afraid to stand by my work, but because no one wants to meet me. I genuinely have a serious problem with my odour. Stink.”

In authentic Jersey Club style, ‘Good Enough’ switches between house, trap, hip hop and pop, eschewing definition to work in perfectly in a club setting. The consistent slew of rhythms and familiar sounds of chopped and diced vocals prove that the genres progressive efforts are healthier than ever.

Stink Floyd has no intention of being anything other than anonymous, leaving his fans unable to identify anything beyond his nom-de-plume and infamous stench.
