Gina Carey Films and Gico Music to screen its first indie Drama, The Unexpected.
Gina Carey Films along with Gico Music will host a free movie screening of, The Unexpected. This full-length, high definition indie film will premiere at “The Camelot Theatres”, 2300 E Baristo Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92262, on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 6pm and will be open to the public.

"The Unexpected", is a family fiction, drama about a teenage girl named “Samantha Burkmore” and her difficult and uncertain journey to adulthood. Samantha, the only child of Mr. & Mrs. Burkmore, the wealthiest couple in Burkmore, soon find themselves dealing with an unexpected event that will change the course of their lives forever.

The script was written by Gina Carey over 2 years ago, and was originally intended for a live theatrical stage play. However, through a course of unforeseen events, Gina decided to put the stage play on hold and release the story as an E Book.

With over 800 downloads within a months’ time, she decided to revisit the idea of casting for The Unexpected as a live stage play. After several months of rehearsal, more challenges arose which sent the production into yet another metamorphosis, a full length feature film.

Coming from a challenging background herself, Gina has a passion to inspire, encourage and compel others of similar challenges to not give up and to bring a message of hope and light through cinema.

The Unexpected was written, produced, directed and filmed by Gina Carey. The stellar cast, La Shawn Porter, Kyli Tapia, Brian Moore, Brittany Majors, Emerald Williams, Mariah Garcia, Victor Rodriguez, Lisa Thomas, C. Ty Hearne, and Lillian Turman-Cherry are all local actors in desert.

Both Gina and her husband, John Carey, wrote and produced serval original songs for the movie soundtrack. Theme songs, Through the Waters, You Take Me, Funkalicious, & Messin with my Joy, were written & produced by Gina and Soul Avenue, Old School, I’m into you, Spicy and Bailia Conmingo (Dance with Me) were written and produced by John.

Not only is Gina Carey an up and coming indie film maker, but she is also an accomplished song writer, music producer and recording artist (with over 12 CD’s released worldwide). She is also the winner of the 2012 Marker broadcasting Jazz Artist award and the 2015 CV Music awards winner for “Best Contemporary Artist”. Additionally, Gina is the owner of her own record company, Gico Music and now film company, Gina Carey Films.

The formal red carpet arrival will begin at 6pm at “The Camelot Theatres” followed by the screening, Q&A and reception after the viewing. This celebratory event is free and open to the public. After 5 attire is suggested.
