Washington, D.C.- Kanja Muchoki, also known as King Kanja, flew into Austin, TX and the SXSW Music Festival with a whirlwind of creativity, panache and poised to be one of the most sought-after artists featured at the iconic festival. Audiences at SXSW 2016 were treated to King Kanja’s polyrhythmic Afro Beat music that had crowds cheering he and his dancers on late into the evening.

His newest single, “Cathy,” which debuts on March 21, 2016, is an infectious dance song that was produced by Grammy-nominated producer, Chucky Thompson (The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Big Poppa;" Faith Evans’s "You Used To Love Me" and Nas’s "One Mic"). King Kanja was inspired to write the song because of his admiration for Cathy Hughes, the Founder and Chairman of Radio One, Inc., to whom his mentor, the late Tony Washington (Radio One), introduced him. The song’s lyrics encourage all women to aspire to be “ a Cathy” - a woman who
overcomes setbacks in life and chooses the “high road” to achieve success. The music video, which was directed by 1st Impressions, offers Miami as a visually stunning backdrop to an array of beautiful women who all reflect some positive aspect of being ”a Cathy.” Here are some of the comments industry insiders have said about the much-anticipated single and music video:

"Bro, you got something special on your hands" –
Grammy-nominated producer, Drummaboy

"I knew when I heard the music, it was you..." -
Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur CEO & Co-Founder of All

"You have a great song and video."-
