What is Filk?

If you're like a lot of people when they first hear about this sort of thing, you're wondering, "what the heck IS this stuff? Isn't "filk" a typo?" Well... in the purest sense, yes, I suppose it is. Or that's how it started out. Now, the word really does have a meaning all its own. Some of these links will help explain things.
